In a 1v1 game with one of the students I train/mentor, he said playing me was like playing Ray Allen because of my jumpshot. Though pretty good, my jumper will never be on Ray Allen's level, but my shot percentage is pretty high. I usually tell my players that it is not so much that I am a great shooter as it is more that I just don't take bad shots.
You can always improve your shot, but it takes a lot of time, reps and attention to detail. I just read an article from the folks at Breakthrough Basketball called "21 Easy Ways To Improve Your Basketball Shooting Percentage" and it is full of great tips that I use and teach my players. I highly recommend you read this article (click here to read) and get in that gym and do work!
